Applewood Inn

Where meaningful experiences happen in the Russian River Valley

Guerneville California Things To Do

Wine Tasting, Kayaking, Dining, Hiking & Events. Guerneville offers small-town charm that’s big on exploration. Things to do run the gamut from Sonoma and Napa Valley wine tasting to outdoorsy Northern California expeditions to cultural excitement through our art galleries and local events downtown.

Downtown Guerneville is a walk-able half mile to town, and just minutes by bike.

So central, so much to do, you’ll want to make us your home-base and book an extended stay.

Wine Tasting

Guerneville (link) is surrounded by hundreds of local wineries. Explore the distinct differences in each viticultural appellation; Russian River Valley, Dry Creek Valley, Alexander Valley, Sonoma Valley, and Sonoma Coast, not to mention the Napa Valley appellations.

For a little bit of bubbly just minutes from Applewood, head over to Korbel Cellars for a sparkling wine tasting and tour(link). Beyond Korbel, our hosts will recommend their personal favorites, sharing the “inside scoop” on each unique place to visit.

Hiking & Biking

Whether you’re craving the allure of the forest or the allure of the coast, Applewood Inn is positioned to give you access to the best paths to explore. Just five minutes away is Armstrong Redwoods Park [link]offering a variety of trails and even horseback riding. A quick 10-mile drive and you’ll be on the beautiful Sonoma Coast where a perch in the dunes is perfect for an unforgettable sunset view.

River Exploring

Enjoying the famed Russian River is a favorite Guerneville CA thing to do. Paddleboats, canoes and inner tubes are available for the day or you can just swim and relax in the river. Access the river from many different points, with the most popular being Johnson’s Beach just off of the main street downtown. It’s a perfect way to stay cool on our warm summer days (besides our beautiful private pool, of course).

Downtown Guerneville

Main street offers shopping, art galleries, coffee shops and a variety of restaurants to keep you exploring, whether it’s a market day or a special event week (link).
